For example, investigations may reveal that the female partner of the infertile couple has under developed small Uterus, fallopian tubes and even the ovaries. Prolonged diligent Hormone administration is given to manipulate the growth of these parts and make them fit for pregnancy. After this IVF with donor ovum has been done with success. In Postmenopausal women aspiring to conceive similar procedures are being done with success. Occasionally, women with similar defects present with very poor sperm count in the husband we do IVF with good quality sperms from donor with donor ovum ( egg) and the donor Embryo is transplanted into the Uterus which has been made fit with hormonal treatment.

There are occasions men may require to preserve their Sperms for planning to have a child later at the time of their choice. For example, men undergoing radiotherapy for cancer of certain parts, the testicles may stop producing the sperms due to inadvertent radiation.
The first Cryo bank for preserving human sperms services in Thanjavur district was started by SB hospital. The donor semen samples from Government of India authorized centres are stored in liquid nitrogen and used for IUI with Donor sperms. Cryo preservation & swim up technique are also being done for Insemination with Husbands sperms.
